On rising, the approach to the coffee-table CrimBook began to present itself in my mind’s eye, and take shape as I looked at it; then how we might go about it. Not quite a coffee-table book, I think.
Nicky Bookkeeper came in c. 08.45, followed by Mr. Stormy with Buddy the Wonder Dog, and David shortly after them.
Above my head the Mel, Boz and Ian Crim are blasting through Pictures Of A City live in August 1971, probably at the Marquee Club. This particular tape validates the premise of the DGM Archive: until we go through everything, we don’t know what we have, and some of what we have may be exceptional. Among the piles of dodgy tapes of sonic squerniferousness this one is excellent, and perhaps a FOH board recording: you can hear what these young men are ripping up.

Onwards across Salisbury Plain, arriving to WillyFred hopping in the entrance lobby. A hand appeared from behind the lobby-door to give him a push back as Wilf attempted a speedy exit. The game was up: Minxie Willcox was to hand, encouraging the Prince of Rabbits to greet me when his own rabbitty instincts were more directed towards hay, carrots, apple, banana, and his friends – the Snake, furry slippers and hot water bottle.
21.56 A Minx-Walk around the town. A recently-closed pub nearby has re-opened. For the first time since living here, the pub was full. Even, with a folk-group playing live.
Another pub, 50 yards from a pub that closed last year, has also closed. The antiques shop opposite the newly-closed pub has a sale on, and is also about to close. In these small examples, the repercussions of global malfeasance has local effect.
